HENRY VISCARDI SCHOOL
Admissions
Prospective students can be referred for a screening at Henry Viscardi School by the child’s school district, parent/guardian or agency.
The Admission Process:
- A referral must consist of the following documentation:
- Psychological & Educational evaluations (within 3 years)
- Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Related Services (Occupational, Physical and Speech) Reports
- Medical Information
- Report Card for Students in 7th Grade or Higher

This information is carefully reviewed by the school administration.
Students who would benefit from Henry Viscardi School’s academic setting are scheduled for a full evaluation. The students are evaluated by a team of professionals, i.e. psychologist, teacher, medical and related service staff. Completion of this process results in a placement recommendation.
Final decisions for placement at the Henry Viscardi School are made by the school district’s Committee for Special Education (CSE). Upon agreement for placement between the Henry Viscardi School, school district and the student’s parent/guardian, the student is appointed by the Commissioner of the New York State Education Department.
